Lewis Hamilton had an underwhelming weekend in Baku. The seven-time world champion could not get to the front of the field after a disastrous Qualifying. Now, Hamilton highlighted the reason behind his woeful one-lap pace after he finished the race in ninth place.

On Saturday, the Briton was unhappy to see his trend of poor Qualifying sessions continue in Azerbaijan. Lewis Hamilton claimed that he had a good car in Friday practice. Although, the team made some minor tweaks to the car before Saturday.

Lewis Hamilton claims he ‘knew’ Azerbaijan GP was going to be tough

Hamilton could only grab two points from Azerbaijan courtesy of a last-minute crash between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz. The seven-time world champion claimed that the poor Qualifying result made it the best race to get a new power unit. As such, Lewis Hamilton admitted that he was aware of how difficult the race was going to be.

Nevertheless, Lewis Hamilton would be looking to shift focus onto the remaining seven races. The Mercedes driver wants to end his decade-long journey on a high as he moves to Ferrari next season. However, it remains to be seen how things pan out for Hamilton in the coming weeks.
